As long as one of the two things you are is clearly defined and the other is a synonym of "being good" then you're good. If being a vegetarian, or a virgin, or a Muslim are your way of saying "being good" then you can "be good" and be anything else too. This is why religion spends so very much time claiming it is synonymous with morals and ethics and "being good." If you argue against religion, you're arguing against "being good."
